Tournaments
Our teams attend a wide array of tournaments which includes the following:
-
Local one day NERVA run tournaments (hosted and run by the region)
-
Local NERVA sanction tournaments ( Approved by the region but run by NERVA member clubs)
-
Two or three day travel (driving) tournaments (hosted by out of region (NERVA) entities but sanctioned by USA Volleyball)
All of the above types of tournaments are usually scheduled prior to the final determination of teams, but are listed as TENTATIVE for a number of reasons. The most significant of these are acceptance into the tournaments.
While we have forged a relationship with a few of the tournaments over the years, VDA does not have any control over being accepted into any tournament we register for. We are in constant contact with all of the tournament organizers that we have a "pending status" for and at times will look into finding other tournament for the affected teams should the need arise.
Regional Bid Tournament
All of our teams compete in the local NERVA run or NERVA sanctioned tournament with the opportunity to qualify for the regional championship bracket. Qualifying for the championship bracket gives these teams the opportunity to play for a bid to the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships.
PLAYER CONDUCT POLICY

3. Players are never to be alone in hotel hallways, elevators and public areas.

9. Players with concerns or questions must first communicate with their Coach. If the concern continues after the player has communicated with the Coach, the Executive Director should be contacted. The Executive Director will have final authority in all matters.
10. Players are required to attend ALL practices. A player may be excused from practice only with prior consent of her/his coach and only up to 3 times throughout the season. After 3, a player will be unable to play in matches for duration of time at the discretion of her coach. Players may make up a missed practice with another team with permission of the other team's coach.
11. Illness that causes you to miss school will be considered an excused absence. Sprains, headaches, pulled muscles and soreness are not considered acceptable reasons for missing practice. All injured players must attend practice.

13. Players are not allowed to use their cellphones during practice. Cellphones are not to be visible.
14. Players are expected to attend all tournaments. Players who miss more than one tournament will be penalized at the discretion of the Executive Director. To allow for emergencies, each case will be reviewed on an individual basis. PLEASE NOTE: a vacation is not an emergency.
15. Players who miss a practice prior to a tournament will not play the first match of the tournament but must arrive on site at the same time as the rest of the team.
PARENT CONDUCT POLICY
Parents are an integral part of the VDA Club program; parent participation is both desired and needed in order to make VDA Club function at the highest level possible.
1. Coaching from the sidelines, distracting, or talking to your athlete during or in between sets of a match will not be tolerated. The first time will be a friendly warning from the coach. The next time the coach will either not play the player or pull the player from the game immediately. If it happens again the parent and player will both be asked to leave the tournament immediately and will have a meeting with the Executive Director to see if they'll be allowed to remain with VDA.
2. Parents are expected to be positive in their attitudes toward volleyball and emphasize the cooperative nature of the sport.

3. Parents will aspire to encourage hard work and honest effort that will lead to improved performance and participation.
4. Parents will encourage athletes to participate in volleyball.
5. Parents should encourage and respect officials and the team working the match. Yelling about the score and specific calls is unacceptable.
6. Parents are not allowed on the court once warm-ups begin and should refrain from speaking with their daughters until after the coach’s post-game talk.
7. Parents should encourage athletes to participate for their own enjoyment.
8. Parents should applaud and encourage sportsmanship and good play during games and matches.
9. Parents should be supportive of all attempts to remove verbal and physical abuse from organized volleyball activities, including language.
10. Parents are expected to meet the financial obligations incurred by their contract with VDA Club.
11. Parents with concerns or questions should first encourage their daughter to speak with their coach at an appropriate time (tournaments and the middle of practice are not appropriate times). If an issue remains unresolved, the Executive Director should be contacted. The Executive Director is the final authority.
12. Parents are expected to be supportive of every member of their team and of the coach. Such support occurs not only on the volleyball court, but in all aspects off the court.
13. Parents who travel with a team are all considered to be chaperones for the team and should behave and support the team accordingly.
14. Parents are expected to ensure that players arrive and leave from practice and tournaments at designated times. Teams play and work together - players are not to leave a tournament until excused by their coach.
15. All practices are closed to parents. Our insurance covers only players and coaches.
